"Mother’s Pearls…27 Aha Moments of Realization", Trafford Publishing, Victoria, BC, Canada (ISBN 142516285-1), speaks to the wonderful learning points which are hidden behind our personal stories. He suggests that once you have accessed and become aware of these learning points or "pearls" you can then use them in your life’s solution making. In his Inspirational coaching and training practice, he combines his formal sports coaching skills and the tools of an accredited Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) Practitioner; traditional coaching tools; life purpose work; priority values discovery; and coaching tools in Organizational and Relationships Systems; with his broad culture in competitive sports, the performing arts, and Eastern philosophy to motivate and inspire his clients to attain excellence in performance and attitude. A Canadian national, Kevin started his life in a small logging camp on the West Coast of Canada. His award-winning skills as a champion figure skater, skating coach/choreographer, contemporary dancer and filmmaker led him to an enriching if demanding performance career in New York City, Paris , London and Melbourne as well as throughout Canada . He has choreographed and trained such elite athletes as World Champion Kurt Browning and World and Olympic Champion Kristi Yamaguchi, produced and directed award-winning dance films, and directed large-scale productions such as the 1988 Calgary Olympic Games Closing Ceremonies, Holiday on Ice's "Xotika, Journey to the Heart" and the current touring Holiday on Ice production, ‘Energia’. Daily living and practicing his own motto "Action, Empowerment, Solutions, Results and Performance in this Lifetime", Kevin's personal compass is firmly fixed on integrity, responsibility, honesty and a healthy dose of risk-taking. Interviewed by The Satellite Crew, he says, "My mission as a coach is to touch ordinary people so that they find the extraordinary person inside, to help them discover possibilities and then proudly take ownership of their own dreams." Affably, he relates a favorite story about coaching a World Champion Figure Skater who had lost all confidence in himself, his talents and direction just prior to defending his World title. Witnessing this sudden loss of power, Kevin trained him differently, by coaching him on human and emotional levels as well as technical. Empowered, the skater successfully captured his second out of four World Titles two weeks later. Kevin holds a BSc degree in biology and a coaching diploma from Achievement Specialists, England. He is a member of the International Coach Federation (ICF), a writer, a master's swimmer and an avid yogi. You can see more about him at www.kevincottam.com.
